[edit] How did this get here?
If you are not quite sure how to use the site or want more information on how to write articles, you can find a great wealth of information at Wikipedia's editing page, or more generally at their Wiki Guide. They also provide a much broader listing of the things you can do with wikitext.
Alternatively, feel free to ask or answer any questions about using this wiki right here.
Event though I log in as signed in, when I go to pages to edit, I find that I'm signed out again. Can this be corrected?

[edit] Editing
Editing most Wiki pages is easy. Simply click on the "edit this page" tab at the top of a Wikipedia page (or on a section-edit link). This will bring you to a new page with a text box containing the editable text of the original page. Only registered users are allowed to edit MyCompWiki, so be sure to register an account if you're having troubles.
[edit] How do I add pictures?
Images uploaded to this Wiki always start with the prefix "Image:". To incorporate an image into an article, you will need to use wiki's image syntax. There is more information than you'll ever need here, but the basic template is as follows:
-
[[Image:Example.gif|thumb|right|Example caption]]
- The first parameter is the full name of the image, (i.e., Image:Example.gif). You must reproduce the exact name of the image file including its capitalization, spacing and not omit its file extension such as
.jpgor.gif. - The second parameter,
"thumb", resizes your image and adds a frame. You may delete this if you want your image to be full size, or replace it with"frame"to add a boarder. - The third parameter is the alignment, which can be
"right""left"or"center". - The last parameter, "Example caption", can be replaced with anything. You may also write wikitext here.
[edit] How do I embed videos?
To embed a video, copy the following template and replace each field as is fitting.
-
<video type="service" id="VV3r73gI0n4" desc="description" frame="true" position="center" size="full" allowfullscreen="true"/>
- "Service" should be replaced with the name of the host, such as
"youtube"or"google" - A video's ID is the code after "v"= on youtube or between "docid=-" and "&hl=en" on google. Simply replace the code between the quotes with that of your video.
- Description: Replace the text inside the quotes with your own caption
- Position: "Center" may be replaced with "left" or "right".
So for example, the media at right is produced with the following code:
-
<video type="youtube" id="up863eQKGUI" desc="A very special message from the Software Publisher's Association" frame="true" position="right" size="full" allowfullscreen="true"/>
[edit] Comments
[edit] How can I comment on other people's blogs?
Wiki comments are usually arranged in threads, which are a hierarchies of indented comments. To start a new thread, just edit the page you wish to comment on, put a colon where you'd like to type, and and have at it. If you'd like to comment on a comment, use two colons, as shown in the example below:
| What you type | What you get |
|---|---|
|
:First Comment ::Reply to First Comment :::Rely to Second Comment :Wholly Unrelated Comment :: Comic Non-Sequitur |
|
[edit] Signing Your Comment
It's good etiquette to sign your comment, and wiki will even do it for you. All it takes is to type three tildes in a row for just your name, four for name and date, and five for just the date.:
| What you type | What you get |
|---|---|
| ~~~ | Howard Beale |
