FabLab@PSU - We propose to develop a Penn State Fab Lab under the auspices of the Center for Nanofutures. Our design agenda will focus on exploring desktop manufacturing, open source pedagogy and the visualization of the nanoscale while fostering innovation in and evaluation of nano enabled technologies of sustainability such as water filtation and solar cells. Building from the success of our courses in SEI nano and 3d printing, we'll pair world class dialogue on the social and ethical implications of paradigm changing research in nanotechnology with hands on practice in DIY nano, desktop manufacturing, application driven software development, media representations of emerging technology and science, and DIY Bio.
